Study BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance in the UK
Accountancy is at the core of every business which means that our BA Accounting and Finance course offers you a range of opportunities in every industry, from banking to fashion and everywhere in between. You’ll develop your advanced theoretical knowledge as well as a practical understanding of all things finance. Covering key areas within financial and management accounting, taxation and business law, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the role accounting plays in successful organisations.
You’ll build your knowledge through a combination of lectures, workshops and seminars,also take part in a range of class-based discussions to further develop your skills and understanding. We’ve got industry standard software such as Sage and One Source in our state-of-the-art Financial Markets Lab to give you the hands-on experience you’ll need to succeed in the industry.
During your studies, you will have the opportunity to do a paid work placement, either as a year-long project or two shorter placements. Here you’ll get the chance to test and improve your technical skills in the real world, as well as building your soft employability skills such as communication and team work.
Course Overview
Our three-year degree (four years with the work placement option) covers the key areas of Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Finance, Taxation and Business Law. You will also choose from an extensive range of modules that explore the broader business environment, and gain an understanding of the pivotal role of accounting to the success of organisations across the globe.

We’ll do our best to consider your application on an individual basis and look at more than your grades when we’re making a decision.

Applications from mature candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed, provided they can demonstrate appropriate levels of relevant ability and experience. If you are unable to meet the entry requirements for this course you may still be eligible for our Foundation year course.
UK/EU and international students are eligible to apply for this course.
UK/EU Students
For Year 1/2 entry: 120 UG credits at level 4 degree/HNC/HND in a related subject and For Year 3 entry: 240 UG credits degree/HNC/HND in a related subject.
International Students
USS has a flexible and personalised approach to admissions and we accept applications from students with a wide range of qualifications and a combination of qualifications. Applications from mature candidates without formal qualifications are welcomed, provided they can demonstrate appropriate levels of relevant ability and experience. If you are unable to meet the entry requirements for this course you may still be eligible for our Foundation year course. This is an extra year of study to prepare you for the full degree.
Visas and immigration
You will not need a visa to study in the UK if you are a citizen of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. If you are a national of any other country you may need a visa to study in the UK.
English language requirements for international students
You must have competence in English language to study with us. The most commonly accepted evidence of English language ability is IELTS 6.0 (with minimum 5.5 in all four components).
